Sector: Industrial / Commercial
Scope: Blockwork cladding to existing piled retaining wall
Location: Britvic Site, Rugby
Project Overview
This industrial project involved the construction of a fire protection cladding wall to safeguard an existing piled foundation retaining wall at the Britvic facility in Rugby. The client required a durable, compliant solution to enhance safety and long-term structural performance within a heavily trafficked commercial environment.
The Challenge
- The original retaining wall featured an uneven façade with visible undulations and exposed piled sections.
- There was no existing fire protection shielding the wall from potential hazards within the adjacent access and loading areas.
- Work had to be carried out while minimising disruption to on-site operations and maintaining high health & safety standards.
Our Solution
To address the brief, our team:
- Constructed a blockwork cladding wall using 215mm 7.3kN hollow core dense concrete blocks.
- Infilled the blocks using M4-grade ready-mixed mortar to ensure maximum fire resistance and durability.
- Carried out progressive infilling of the wall’s façade undulations, ensuring a clean, level finish.
- Completed all work to industrial specification, with attention to longevity, compliance, and visual consistency.
Before & After
Before:
Scaffold in place along the exposed piled wall, with clear undulations and no protective cladding.
After:
A solid, continuous blockwork wall offering structural protection, a clean visual finish, and crucial fire resistance — transforming the entire access corridor on site.

Outcome
- Fire safety enhanced in line with industrial building regulations.
- Durable, low-maintenance finish ready for long-term use.
- All work delivered on schedule, with minimal disruption to ongoing site operations.
